Scope and Contents
This collection contains programs, reviews of performances and publications, interviews, photographs, and recordings featuring Georgine Resick, current Professor Emerita at the University of Notre Dame. The programs, reviews, and photographs track Resick’s career as an opera singer, spanning performances from 1972 to 2012, many of which took place in European countries, including Germany, Austria, Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Italy. Also included are programs from Resick’s vocal performances during her time as a Professor of Voice at the University of Notre Dame.

Biographical / Historical
Pennsylvania native Georgine Resick received a Bachelor of Music from the American University (magna cum laude) and the Artist’s Diploma from Peabody Conservatory. Resick was a back-to-back recipient of the National Opera Institute Young Artist Award in 1976 and 1977. She married composer Roger Ames and continued her studies under George London, debuting as Sophie in Massenet's Werther on March 16, 1977, with the Washington Opera at the Kennedy Center. Resick then joined the Cologne City Opera, where she was a principal lyric soprano from 1977 to 1982. For the following two years, she was principal lyric soprano for the Deutsche Oper am Rhine. Resick has performed all over Europe, including in Germany, Austria, Sweden, France, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Italy. After returning to the United States, Resick was a Music Editor for BETA Publishing from 1986-1989 before turning to teaching. Resick taught Voice at the American University (1989), the Berkshire Ensemble for Theatre Arts (1989), and the New England Conservatory of Music (1990) before coming to the University of Notre Dame in 1990. She has also taught master classes at universities across the United States. While at Notre Dame, she founded con tempo, a chamber ensemble that performs recent American compositions. Resick currently holds the title of Professor Emerita at the University of Notre Dame.

Collection materials cover Resick’s career as an opera singer, spanning performances from 1975 to 2012, many of which took place in European countries.
Arrangement
The manuscript portion of the collection is arranged into four sections: Programs and Reviews, CD Reviews, Interviews, and Personal Papers. Files are arranged chronologically within each section.
The graphics (photographs) portion of the collection is arranged into two sections: Headshots and Productions. Files are arranged chronologically within each section. Oversize photographs are stored with other oversize material in Box 3 of the manuscript portion of the collection.
