Background
Rodney J. Shaughnessy, of Madison, Wisconsin, played football for Knute Rockne until an injury prevent him. Then he became a coach for the freshman team. After graduating from Notre Dame, he worked as a baseball and football coach at Jefferson College in Convent, Louisiana.
