In reply to Brother's letter of March 16, 1869 they certify that Hubert Ferdinand Frederick Goebbels was born on January 25, 1849 at Dusseldorf and educated in the parish of Gerresheim. They also certify that his moral conduct was good and find nothing, in regard to the Apostolic decree of January 25, 1848, which would prevent him from being accepted by the Franciscan Brothers of the Poor of St. Francis Seraph at St. Anthony's Home in Cincinnati.
