McMahon, Father Philip, Zaleski, Ohio, to Archbishop John Baptist Purcell, of Cincinnati, Ohio, 1860 January 25
Scope and Contents
He was handed Purcell's letter when he came from Hamden on his way to Athens where he came to arrange about purchasing some church property. He has never taken the key from Wilkesville Ohio but left it with the person residing nearest the church, Patrick Ward. He never took a chalice belonging to the church as he has his own. He bought the furniture out of his own pocket at a constable's sale. He would be doing an injustice if he left the furniture with such malicious boors. The charges they make are lies. :: II-5-a A.L.S. 2pp. 12mo.
