Carroll, Rebecca and Jeanie, Washington, D.C., to James F. Edwards, Notre Dame, Indiana, 1887 November 13
Scope and Contents
Although they have been silent they often think of Edwards. He certainly has the "Open Sesame" to the many treasures which he has acquired. It seems that Edwards' presence is sufficient to open the hearts of all around. Their nephew Mr. Fitzhugh is with them. Mary Ewing wrote them of all their friends at St. Mary's. Tomorrow will be the anniversary of the death of Charles Carroll of Carrollton; he was the first cousin of their grandfather Charles Carroll and the guardian of their father and his two brothers. Mr. Thatcher who is writing a history of the District of Columbia called on them for information. Emily B(rent) delights in her sweet cozy home.
