He regrets that he was obliged to send to Rome the letters of Bishop Peter Joseph Lavialle of Louisville, Kentucky. They published a long notice in France about him when he died. Bishop Camillus Maes who promised to write the life of Lavialle has the notice. The Sisters of the Good Shepherd whose Director he was can tell something about Lavialle. Father O'Leary spoke to Benedict of Lavialle's admirable conduct during the cholera, a short time after his coming from France under Bishop Flaget.
