Scope and Contents
It is with sorrow that they announce the death of Mother M. Baptista Lynch who died July 28. She was ill for two weeks with typhoid fever. Sister Ignatius asks that a notice be put in the "Ave Maria." Mother Baptista was the sister of the late Bishop Patrick Lynch of Charleston, South Carolina; was superior for 29 years, was 54 years old; made her novitiate at Cincinnati and was sent to Charleston to found a convent which was destroyed by the Federal Army in 1865. They had just moved to their new home in Columbia when she died.
