However, says that among the few that he has known Mike Hovey ranks among the top three in terms of academic qualifications and promise. Also, says that Mike is unique for his added perspective from wide and varied experiences in addition to his personal commitment to issues bearing upon war and peace. However, also mentions his "negatives" such as his low GRE math score, his problems with meeting deadlines, and his drinking. But, Gordon says these are simply minor failings and that he is confident he would be a welcome addition to the university.
