Correspondence. Discusses the controversy regarding Senator Quayle's service record. Addresses the comment that at least he did not evade service by going to Canada or Sweden or become a conscientious objector. Says he joined the National Guard to avoid combat, i.e. an act of avoidance. However, conscientious objection is an act of rejection. There is thus a clear difference between the two.
