General

Document. "It was the conscientious objector like myself who stood in moral jeopardy, rejected by his fellow Catholics (including all too often his pastor, and even his own family) for his "Christian duty." His convictions, he would be told, had no support whatsoever in Catholic teachings and tradition. Unless the Church (and by that I do not mean only the Pope, bishops, theologians, priests, etc. but the whole Church) is willing to devote more time and serious effort to refining the Gospel message of peace and non-violence and its meaning for our time, the contradiction will persist and the whole tragic pattern of the Mystical Body ripped apart by war will be repeated, world without end.
