Journal #1. Met with Walter Derbus who is an editor and who is also linked with the Catholic pacifist thought of the day. He gave a summary of FDK history. With the draft under Hitler it was practically impossible to discuss or even consider CO status because a German who refused service would certainly be executed. Derbus was lucky to avoid the draft because of his age and health considerations. Derbus also commented that Catholics were half-hearted in their support of the war.
