Correspondence. Mr. Beckers was unable to be involved in the peace movement during the war because the Gestapo would come to listen to his preachings in church. He also makes mention of the "HJ" which was a para-military youth organization sponsored by Hitler that he majority of Young German men joined. He states that he could not join the peace movement because it conflicted with the interests of the "HJ." He also states that many Catholics were against the war, but could not speak out because they faced "terrible martyrdom." He recommends that Dr. Zahn talk to: Dr. Nikolaus Ehlen who wrote a book, "World Peace," and Constanze Hallgarten who wrote, "Living as a Female Pacifist in Germany." ~ Dusseldorf-Stockum
