Journal #1. States that the journal will be a record of his Fulbright year in Germany. Gives a brief summary of events thus far, but states that he has yet to begin his research. Discusses his experiences at the Vates Rhein Hotel and his attempts at trying to get accustomed to Germany. Also, mentions a trip to Munich to see the tail end of the Oktoberfest and says that the trip was not worth it. He is now back in Wuerzburg where he is stationed, but he will living a little down the road in the town of Raudersacher. Gives a desciption of the town.
