Scope and Contents
Correspondence, printed material, bills, sermons, and a diary, of Father Edward Frederick Sorin (1814-1893), founder and first President of the University of Notre Dame, Indiana Provincial, and later Superior General of the Congregation of Holy Cross. Includes letters from CSC members, bishops, and lay people, as well as other material, including a small diary, several Sorin sermons on spiritual matters, and bills and other financial material relating to the building up of Notre Dame. Some documents are in foreign languages, especially French.
