Joe Locke Letters
Content Description
This collection includes seven letters written by Joe Locke, an aspiring foot racer from Stourbridge, England, to his future wife Louisa Drewry in 1868. The letters detail Locke's travels around England and his planned participation in foot races. It is unclear whether he intended to compete in running races or in walking races, but several of the letters discuss Louisa's making or mending "drawers" for Locke to wear while racing. The letters also discuss personal and family matters. Formats include letters.
