Copy of Tommy Loughran's Personal Scrapbook [Facsimile]

 Item — Box: 1
Identifier: MSSP_2012

Content Description

One volume of photocopied clippings, photographs, and other material relating to the boxing career of Tommy Loughran.

A copied note at the beginning of the volume reads:

"Thomas P. Loughran, 1634 Ritner Street, Phila. Pa. This book contains the clippings and results of all my boxing bouts and exhibitions except the first years of my career in which I did not bother with any clippings. My career started on December 9, 1919 at the Auditorium A.A. in Phila. at Sixth and Brown St. Said club being run by Marcus Williams. I met Eddie Carter in the first bout and knocked him out in the second round."

Despite claiming to include clippings "of all" Loughran's bouts, the bulk of the clippings are from 1920-1924 with comparatively few after those years. There is a copy of his parents' 1897 marriage certificate. A later researcher has interspersed some modern research notes from 2000-2005 throughout.
