College Fall Sports Media Guides Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection contains fall sports media guides published by four-year colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The guides typically emphasize football—but unlike media guides specifically devoted to football—fall sports media guides also include information about other traditional fall sports, most notably men’s soccer and men’s cross country and sometimes men’s golf and men’s tennis. By the 1970s and 1980s some media guides also cover women’s sports, particularly field hockey, volleyball, soccer, cross country, golf, and tennis. Guides typically contain pictures, bios, statistics, and other information about players, coaches, and other personnel for fall sports teams. They also usually contain historical data about the teams, details about the schools, and other information for members of the media. The media guides tend to become larger, longer, and more substantial through the years. Formats include media guides.

Arrangement
Guides are arranged alphabetically by issuing school, and then by date. Schools are alphabetized by their familiar, shorthand names; full (current) names and locations follow in parentheses. The listing of two shorthand names for a school indicates a name change (in which cases schools are alphabetized by the second, or more recent, such name.)
