Scope and Contents

This collection consists of 22 photographs by Larry Fink from his boxing series, The gelatin silver print photographs document several levels of the sport of boxing from 1990 through 1993. Many images capture aspiring boxers and their handlers at local and regional boxing gyms in the Philadelphia area like Champs Gym and the Blue Horizon Gym. Two photographs document the heavyweight championship boxing match between Mike Tyson and Donovan “Razor” Ruddock in Las Vegas in March 1991. One image documents a Golden Gloves boxing tournament in Las Vegas. Formats include gelatin silver print photographs.

Biographical / Historical

Larry Fink (born 1941) is an American portrait photographer. He studied at the New School for Social Research in New York and has held numerous teaching positions at schools including Yale University, Cooper Union, Parsons School of Design, Temple University, and Bard College. His work has been widely exhibited in the United States and has been featured at solo exhibitions in museums and galleries around the country.
