Rusudana Nikolaevna Nikoladze Illustrated Travel Memoir, circa 1920s, 1960s
Scope and Contents
The notebook is entitled "Switzerland again 1914" (Opiat Shveitsaria 1914). It is the last book in the collection of memoirs describing Rusudana's travels in Switzerland during the summer of 1914. It describes places, such as Graubunden, Engandin, Geneva (all in Switzerland), Marseille (France), and Istanbul (the Ottoman Rmpire). Rusudana was traveling with her husband, the St. Petersburg historian Mikhail Polievktov, on the eve of the First World War. When the war broke out, they were in Geneva and could only return to Russia via the Mediterranean and the Black Sea (from Marseille to Odessa via Istanbul). See also RNN's journals.
