Rusudana Nikolaevna Nikoladze Illustrated Journal, 1914 October 17-1915 February 9, 1917 February 27-April 27
Scope and Contents
RNN numbers the leaves as 254 through 274 (1914-1915 events) and leaves 1-145 (1917 events). The first part of the notebook entitled "Notebook IV. Summer 1914"(Leto 1914 g. Tetrad IV) continues where the previous journal leaves off. The text is written in Russian. Occasional dated entries range from October 17, 1914 when Rusudana was in Didi Dzhikhaishi (Georgia) to February 9, 1915 when she was in Petrograd. Annotations and additions to the text appear to have been made by RNN around 1967. The second part entitled "After Two Years" (Cherez dva goda) describes events that took place between February and April of 1917. Again annotations and additions to the text appear to have been made by RNN around 1967. At the end of June, 1917 RNN left Petrograd for Georgia. The first part of the notebook refers to such historical events as the outbreak of war with Turkey and the evacuation of government officials and civilians from Poti to Tbilisi. The second part describes wartime Petrograd, popular uprisings in the city, the formation of the Petrograd Soviet, the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II, Rusudana's work in the Tauride Palace, and the return of her cousin Iraklii Tsereteli from Siberian exile. Folder includes several pages showing musical notations from a Wagner score and RNN's thoughts on the revolution.
