Thomas W. Cridler International Correspondence, France, 1903 June 10-19
Scope and Contents
Included in folder is further correspondence between Cridler, William H. Hunt, and officials of the exposition regarding the possible appointment of Lieutenant Carpeaux, the son of a "well-known" sculptor, as the military attaché of the Malagasy Mission. Cridler provides Hunt with a lesson in diplomacy, explaining "a personal visit is so much more satisfactory and in matters of this kind so is an oral request. A formal written communication would never do: we are appealing for a favor."
