Scope and Contents

From the notes of Dr. Catherine Perry: Hardcover copy of Au soleil de la poésie. Sous l'œil en fleur de Madame de Noailles (Librairie des Champs-Élysées, 1928). 3/4 leather with marbled boards, the copy of Jean Tenant. Contains the "author's note" of 28 October 1928 in which Benjamin explains that the work is his own interpretation of Noailles and not an accurate portrait of the woman. Bound in at the back are original manuscript letters from Noailles, Benjamin, and Tenant about the split between Noailles and Benjamin occassioned by her displeasure at the book, and a clipping of a newspaper column by Tenant on the book. These materials relate directly to those found in MSE/MD 2819-048.
