Scope and Contents

LeRoi Jones (1934-2014), who later adopted the name Amiri Baraka, was an African-American writer of poetry, drama, fiction, essays, and music criticism. The letters in this subseries are copies; Dorn's letters to Jones are at the Charles E. Young Research Library at UCLA, and Jones's to Dorn are in the Lilly Library at IU-Bloomington. Many have been published; see, for example, Chicago Review, vol. 49/50, (2004) "A Selection of Edward Dorn's Correspondence," pp.25-84.
