Background

Founded in 1998 by the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, the Conference of Major Superiors of Men, and the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, the Center for the Study of Religious Life conducted interdisciplinary studies of and reflections on the experience of Roman Catholic religious in the United States since Vatican II (i.e., members of religious orders). The Center, located at the Catholic Theological Union in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, closed in 2009.
