Scope and Contents
This collection documents the history, governance, activities, and community service efforts of the Notre Dame Club of Staten Island. The records reflect the Club’s efforts to foster participation and engagement among University of Notre Dame alumni, parents, and friends in Staten Island and the greater New York metropolitan area. Materials relate to the Club’s organizational activities, programs, meetings, charitable initiatives, educational and religious activities, social gatherings, student support, and relationship with the University and local community.

Biographical / Historical
The Notre Dame Club of Staten Island is an alumni organization serving University of Notre Dame alumni, parents, and friends in Staten Island and the New York metropolitan area. The Club provides opportunities for members to maintain connections with one another and with the University through community service, social and cultural activities, Catholic and religious observances, educational programs, support for current students, and communication with the wider Notre Dame community.
The Club organizes a range of recurring activities that reflect these priorities, including Bread of Life Food Drives, UND Celebrations, Hesburgh Lectures, Eve of Solemn Remembrance, fall football game watch events, and Christmas parties and toy drives. Through these activities, the Club combines fellowship with service to the local community and continued engagement with the University of Notre Dame.
The Club has received numerous honors recognizing the scope and impact of its activities. It received the Notre Dame Alumni Association Charles F. Lennon Award for most outstanding club nationwide in 1999, 2005, 2012, 2016, and 2025, and was recognized as the most outstanding club in its Class/Group in 1997, 2002, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2015, 2019, 2023, and 2024. In 2019, the Club also received the Lennon Life Prize. The Archdiocese of New York recognized the Club, together with two other area Notre Dame clubs, with the Dorothy Day Award for its broad range of social, religious, and community service activities. In 2023, the Club received community service awards from the United Federation of Teachers of New York City and the Staten Island Democratic Association for the Bread of Life Food Drive. The University of Notre Dame awarded the Club Force for Good awards in 2020 and 2021 in recognition of its efforts to engage Club members, the surrounding community, and the University.
