Background
Thomas P. Bergin graduated from Notre Dame in 1945 and earned a Ph.D. from Syracuse University. He began to teach Business Administration and Marketing at Notre Dame in 1947 and in 1952 became the head of the department. He became the first Dean of Continuing Education at Notre Dame in 1964, and served in that capacity until his retirement 16 years later.
