Leray's letter of September 1 asks for half the tax. He cannot have the money until the cotton is cut and in January when the pews are rented. In case of absolute necessity, Leray is to ask Father Mittelbronn of St. Rose to give him this sum for Chabrier. If he refuses, Chabrier will have to borrow it.
