Since Ledreux wrote he has realized that it is impossible to build his house this year; he will wait until the end of next year. He will have time to finish paying for the church. Their school house is almost finished and will be ready for pupils next month. Unfortunately he is told that new schools cannot receive public money until recognized by the legislature. Many families are destitute and will need their children to harvest the cotton. Ledreux has promised the school to Mr. Lynch and if they disappoint him now, he may get away when they need him.
