Lavaquery, Father E. J. Our Lady of the Rosary,, Lousiana, to Bishop Francis Xavier Leray, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1882 September 9
Scope and Contents
Lavaquery received Leray's letter of the 1st; Leray had authorized Lavaquery to give only ten piastres as he had been pastor only 3 months in 1882. Father Olivier Bré was pastor up to May 1, and during the vacancy Father Pierre Marie F. Letilly had charge of the parish. The taxes for 1882 are not payable until January, 1882. When Lavaquery has a reply to his letter of August 29 he thinks he will be obliged to go to Harvey's Canal and from there he could go to pay the 6 months of 1882 with the collections and dispensations. :: VI-3-d A.L.S.
