Scope and Contents

Hilliard received the check for 450 francs in payment of the interest for 1882 on the sum loaned in Hilliard's name to Perché's diocese. This sum belongs to two persons and is their only resource in their old age. These persons would never think of asking payment of the sum of Perché could live forever. Bishop Francis Xavier Leray has refused to recognize this debt and if Perché disappeared, all hope would be lost. That is why Hilliard joins these ladies in asking Perché to repay them. Hilliard believes that they would consent to leave their funds in Perché's diocese for some years if the new administration would guarantee the capital and interest. :: VI-3-d A.L.S.
