Scope and Contents

Leray's letter of December 26 crossed with one Certes had written on December 28. Certes hastens to present the situation of the diocese of Natchitoches with the Association in order to prevent further misunderstanding. On December 26 Leray stated that he had supplied a draft of 16,000 francs and that he had received for the Association 2073 francs which Leray asked Certes to keep with the funds which Certes would send for 1882. On December 26, Leray had only their letter of June 23, 1881 in which Leray was informed that 16,274 francs 25 centimes were at Leray's disposal. To remain within these limits the drafts could only be for 14,201 francs 25 centimes since Leray already had 2073 francs belonging to the Association. In the letter of December 28 they placed a new sum at Leray's disposal, 3600 francs which added to the 16,274 francs 25 centimes adds up to 19,874 francs 25 centimes. Leray's draft of 16,000 francs and the 2073 francs received total 18,073 francs. The differences of 1,801 francs 25 centimes is the figure that is not to be exceeded. After a recent decision of the Councils the receipts for the Association will not be entered by the treasurer until banked?. :: VI-3-d A.L.S. French 4pp. 8vo.
