She is sorry that Perché did not pass through Louisville when he returned from Europe. Her husband has been dead ten years and was entitled to a pension, having been at the battle of New Orleans. The Pension Office will pay it if she can find positive evidence of his having been there. She asks Perché for his aid in helping her prove her husband was there.
