Scope and Contents
Last August Alemany notified Perche that he had sent to the Holy See three names worthy of the office of coadjutor for the Archdiocese of San Francisco , namely, Father William Fortune, President of All Hallows College, Dublin, Bishop Thomas Foley of Chicago, and Father John Prendergast . The Cardinal Prefect has directed him to send a third name, Prendergast having been disposed of. The Bishops of the Province met him on the 16th and concurred in recommending Bishop William Henry Elder of Natchez. He asks Perchȳ to send his views to the Cardinal-Prefect. :: VI-2-o A.L.S. 1p. 4to.
