Morisot has written twice, but thinks he has not received either because, despite the difficulty of communication between New Orleans and France he would have devised a means to reply, were it only by way of the French Consul. He finds himself in a very sad and cruel position and counts on him to assist him. The small sum that he brought with him, counting on procuring the money he left at New Orleans of which he has received nothing, was exhausted long ago.
