Kane, Father Richard, Bayou-Lacombe, Louisiana, to Archbishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1859 October 27
Scope and Contents
Kane gives his reasons for wishing to be dispensed from assisting at the retreat to which he has been invited by the Vicar-General. Kane has recently made a long retreat in this calm solitude and believes he benefits more by this type. Also, he can never appear in public without being asked questions of a nature which obliges him to give evasive answers. Though the interests of his family require him to go to the city every five or six weeks, he still yearns for obscurity where he may repair the past. :: VI-2-b A.L.S. 2pp. 4to.
