Kenrick had heard of Bishop Portier's death from a Canadian clergyman. Blanc is to let Kenrick know the sum he paid to the California emigrant and Kenrick will reimburse him. A few years ago Kenrick paid a receipt of Father Edward Purcell ; he telegraphed first and waited for an answer before doing so.
