Kenrick encloses a draft of L.A. Benoist, Shaw, and Company of New Orleans for the amount advanced by Father Rousselon on the account of Bishop John Baptist Lamy . Bishop Joseph Cretin's death took place on February 23 after a long and painful illness, brought on by excessive watching and application to business. He was truly a holy man.
