Scope and Contents

On his arrival from the church, Grignon found Blanc's letter. While thanking Blanc for all the trouble he took to procure a teacher, Grignon asks him not to do so for the present as Grignon has just made an arrangement that he had scarcely foreseen. The priest of whom Blanc speaks or any other will be welcome here. Fortunately he has had few sick calls during the week but Sunday is a little too hard for him alone. The liberty Grignon took in saying that he did not want a doubtful priest, or worse, was based on the fear of seeing renewed the scandals of the past which are not yet forgotten. It is too late now to hope for help for Christmas but he knows Blanc will send a priest soon. Nothing new at Natchez; all are awaiting news of the new bishop. :: VI-1-k A.L.S. French 3pp. 12mo.
