Alemany was thinking of numbering Father Napoleon Joseph Perché in the list to be left for a successor, should Alemany die. The English language is indispensable here; French, Spanish and German are also very useful. If Perché is a man of good practical judgment, solid piety, and energy as Alemany considers him to be, he would be most suitable.
