Mina, Father Ve. Modeste St. John Baptist, Louisiana, to Archbishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1855 June 18
Scope and Contents
The persons who said that Mina expected Blanc on the 24th for Confirmation were spreading an absurd fable. How could he announce the ceremony without consulting Blanc? Confirmation could not take place where the cholera and other sicknesses are raging especially on the left bank opposite the church. Three persons died in the same house. For some time, there has not been a day without a burial; last week he had four the same day. Confirmation could be after Easter 1856. Prudence demands not exposing people to danger. P.S. Enclosed is $10 Mina received yesterday for the Propagation of the Faith :: VI-1-i A.L.S. French 1p. 12mo.
