Athanase, Brother, Mobile, Alabama, to Brother Alphonse, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1853 July 11
Scope and Contents
Athanase has just received a letter from Brother David, F.S.C. announcing the death of novice Brother Clodius, F.S.C. who was going to Dubuque. He drowned in the Mississippi 30 miles above Burlington. They think he was going to draw water to wash; a Brother saw him with a pail between 4 and 5 in the morning and ten miles from there they missed him. He had 2000 francs on him. Brother Placide, F.S.C. sent the invoices to Rousselon a long time ago. They are surprised that Alphonse has not written to them. A.L.S. :: VI-1-f A.L.S. French 4pp. 12mo.
