She has received Blanc's letter replying to hers concerning the two boys. She will not send them until she hears again as Blanc informs her they cannot be received should they have father or mother. Their mother died here a few weeks since; their father is a fugitive from justice. It is not known whether he is living or dead. This is a rich neighborhood, yet no one regards the orphan.
