Scope and Contents

Blanc's letter of January 7 surprised her greatly; she does not know of what letter he is speaking. She has not written to her son since last year and did not know he was living in New Orleans. When she wrote he was at Mobile. Only a week ago he sent her a power of attorney asking for what was coming to him from his father. He needed it to help his family. It is painful for a mother to be forced to say that it is his fault. She can do nothing for him. She is left a widow with three young daughters. Legal proceedings took almost everything. She believes if Adolphe Herisson promised to pay for his brother he will do so. He married without telling her and should have known if he could support a family. She asks Blanc to continue his kindness. There is a revolution in Paris and fighting in several towns. The king has fled and it seems they are to have a republic. :: V-5-i A.L.S. French 4pp. 4to.
