Constant, R., Avoyelles, Louisiana, to Bishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1846 August 16

As secretary of the council of St. Paul's Church he writes to tell Blanc of what has been happening here since his last visit. Blanc saw the contract which the trustees in power in 1845 made for the building of a new presbytery; he also saw that the building does not correspond with the stipulations of the contract. This has worried the present council. The sheriff has seized the property as belonging to the contractor. The contract was annulled and the time extended and $24 given the contractor. Now another difficulty threatens the harmony between their congregation and their pastor, Father Charles Dalloz . The house where Dalloz lives is threatened.
