Ménard, Father Charles M., Thibodauxville, Louisiana, to Bishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1846 January 31
Scope and Contents
Ménard sends enclosed a copy of the resolutions passed in the last meeting of the trustees of the congregation of St. Mary Pamela, Lafourche Interior, Louisiana below Thibodaux. Joseph Nicolas, president, has at last acceded to the requests of the other members. Only as a souvenir of his promises to the legislature, he has given advice about the civil laws. Ménard awaits only Blanc's instructions to begin the work. All are well-disposed. If possible Blanc is to give instructions by February 10 when Ménard will go there to say Mass. All goes well here; there was a meeting of the trustees of St. Joseph 's; everyone was agreeable. Father Anthony Thèves is improving; he can ride horseback. He is to leave Monday for a mission at Terrebonne . Blanc is to let Ménard know if he can come for Confirmation before he leaves. P.S. Ménard's duties have been so numerous that he has not yet gone to Houma. A.L.S. French Enclosure:
