Aliquot, Angelique Visitation Convent,, New Orleans, Louisiana, to Father Stephen Rousselon?, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1846 January 30
Scope and Contents
Aliquot wrote Bishop Anthony Blanc a week ago to ask him what to do about her vocation. The Sisters of the Visitation have told her that a priest must decide for her. There is so much charity and support here but one thing makes her afraid. It is the urge to continue to teach as she has been doing, which is stronger than the desire to remain here. It gives her pain to leave those poor unfortunate ones who come from so far to learn to pray. At 25 she should have done what she is doing. The Sisters tell her to take courage, that some have left even after taking the habit and then come back. P.S. If Rousselon decides she is to come out, he is to tell Father Napoleon Joseph Perché and Mrs. Barthélemi? Jourdan :: V-5-e A.L.S. French 2pp. 4to.
