Blin, R.U., Sister St. Arsène, New Orleans, Louisiana, to Bishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1845 March 10
Scope and Contents
In May last year, she received a letter from Blanc in reply to one she had written about her zeal for the abandoned people and less fortunate youth. Blanc told her that her superiors were not unaware of how to use her zeal. But since he also told her that he was far from blaming her for telling him of her dispositions, she is writing again. She would like either a religious congregation for colored girls Negroes or for their free externs in town. As her group does not share this desire, and without cooperation there would be some dispensations to obtain, she thinks that it is time to get the help of Bishop John Mary Odin . The Community admits Texas but the ones they send there have to be of first quality because they wish to start with an Academy; she will not be among the number chosen. She will abide by Blanc's decision. :: V-5-c A.L.S. French 4pp. 8vo.
