Brassac, Father Hercule, Paris, France, to Bishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1841 April 15
Scope and Contents
Brassac sends a draft, the first, for 300 piastres to the order of Mr. Ducros. If it is not accepted Blanc is to advance the sum and draw on Brassac. If Blanc can get at least part of the money in question before maturity, he will greatly oblige the one who asks Brassac to send it. Brassac has heard nothing more of Father Imbert. It would be easy to procure some good priests who, too old to learn English, about 40, could not go to the western dioceses, but might be very useful in Louisiana. But they do not have the means of paying their expenses. If Blanc would authorize him, Brassac could send a few. He has received many applications. Bishop Richard Pius Miles is in Holland and expects to sail from England in the latter end of June. Brassac writes on the stationery of the Ecclesiastical Agency of Catholic Clergy of the United States. :: V-4-l A.L.S. French and English 2pp. 4to.
