Doogan, Father Robert, Alexandria, Louisiana, to Bishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1840 October 14
Scope and Contents
Doogan understands from Mrs. Biosssat that there is a parcel for him on board but the boat is discharging her cargo some distance down the river and is returning this evening to New Orleans. The trustees are living out in the pine woods but Doogan expects to have an interview with them shortly. He is well pleased with the family to whom Blanc recommended him. He celebrated Mass in the new church last Sunday; if Blanc will allow him to he will make a mission through the most thickly settled parts. He asks Blanc to send him the Council of Trent and Challenor's Meditations. He asks Mr. Kelley to get a box of hosts from the Sisters and forward it with the first boat. Mrs.Biossat will make a set of vestments for All Saints Day if Blanc will forward the lace. :: V-4-k A.L.S. 2pp. Folio
