Scope and Contents

His father (Thomas Jevons) sailed per Etruria on May 27. Marguerite (Jevons) and (Thomas) Seton (Jevons) are undoubtedly having a very good time. A Mrs. (John) Gordon who had dinner with them a year ago when they lived in 59th Street and who has taken the Duchess of Marlborough's house for the season gave a ball for Marguerite. Seton suppressed some middle class individual at a dance who hinted that because there were no dukes, etc. there the dance was not of the first social order. No doubt Seton impressed upon him that a Seton can take his seat beside kings and that an American gentleman has entry into the most exclusive society wherever he may be. Reginald has received an invitation from Mrs. Sackett M. Barclay, who has two charming daughters, to visit them at Cazenovia on July 20. What expenditure would Reginald be called upon to make if he joined the Sons of the Revolution. He has a right to be a member and there is some little distinction in belonging. He would also like to know (Reverend Arthur Wentworth Hamilton) Eaton's address. He is a nice fellow. The Soame-Burden wedding at Lenox must have been very beautiful.
